MEET RYAN
One of the youngest ever elected to the Texas legislature at age 24, Representative Ryan Guillen is a sixth generation South Texas rancher, family man, businessman, guardsman, and fourth generation educator.
Having been named "Legislator Of The Year," "Best Of The House," or "Champion" over a dozen times, no other member of the House has passed more legislation than Guillen in over a decade. Recently, Capitol Inside called him a “House Bill Machine,” and a “one-person assembly line for legislation.”
A Chairman of a legislative committee, Rep. Guillen has been appointed to leadership roles under the two separate administrations he has served under in the Texas House, including having Vice-Chaired the powerful Appropriations Committee at age 29. He currently chairs the Culture, Recreation & Tourism Committee, which oversees parks, wildlife, fisheries, libraries, historical landmarks, the arts, tourism, and Texas's image and heritage.
Well known for his hard work and relentless efforts for South Texas families, Rep. Guillen hosts an annual Community Summit to keep communities ahead of the curve, a Student Legislative Session and a seasonal Legislative Internship Program to educate and inspire our youth and young adults, a seasonal Listening Tour at every Dairy Queen in the district to be accessible to constituents, and has opened more district offices than any other district in the state.
Guillen represents House District 31, which encompasses ten South Texas counties including Atascosa, Brooks, Duval, Jim Hogg, Kenedy, La Salle, Live Oak, McMullen, Starr, and Willacy and previously represented Webb and Zapata.
Representative Guillen and his wife Dalinda have two daughters,Cinco Demi and Viva Bonita.
